From August 02 to 04, 2025, St Maria Goretti Church, Hirgan, was graced by the pastoral presence of Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of the Diocese of Udupi. This spiritually enriching occasion, coordinated by Parish Priest Rev. Fr John Walter Mendonca, fostered unity and deepened devotion among the faithful. The parishioners welcomed the Bishop with reverence and heartfelt gratitude for his inspiring leadership.

The visit commenced with a solemn prayer service, followed by a moving visit to the parish cemetery, where the faithful gathered to offer prayers for the souls of the departed, affirming the Church's profound communion with the saints.

A highlight of the visit was Bishop Lobo’s catechetical session with the youth, especially those preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. His guidance reflected his unwavering commitment to helping the younger generation understand and embrace their spiritual journey.

On Sunday, August 03, the high point of the visit was the solemn Eucharistic celebration, during which the Bishop administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 21 catechized children.
