Udupi, 17 June 2025 — Assistant Priests from across the Udupi Diocese gathered at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Anugraha, for a day of prayer, reflection, and discussion aimed at strengthening pastoral collaboration and unity.

The meeting commenced with a warm welcome by Rev. Fr Ashwin Aranha, followed by an opening prayer led by Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas. Shortly after, Most Rev. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, addressed the assembly and invited each priest to introduce themselves—setting a tone of fraternity and shared purpose.
In the first session of the day, Bishop Gerald presented a ten-year retrospective of the Diocese’s development. A documentary tracing the journey, milestones, and growth of the Diocese was showcased, offering a moving visual narrative of its progress since inception.

The second session focused on the structure and function of the Diocesan Pastoral Commissions. Bishop Lobo walked the priests through their respective roles and responsibilities, tying them into the broader framework of pastoral care. He also presented an outline of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan, highlighting strategic goals and ministerial priorities for the coming years.
A feedback session followed, giving priests an opportunity to share insights, raise concerns, and offer suggestions regarding ongoing pastoral initiatives and future directions.
The gathering concluded with a communal prayer led by Bishop Lobo, who thanked the assistant priests for their dedication and participation. The event not only served as a moment for pastoral updates but also reinforced spiritual fellowship and a shared commitment to the Church’s mission in Udupi Diocese.
