Udupi: The 21st batch of M.Sc Nursing Courses was inaugurated in the FMMC decennial memorial Hall of Knowledge Centre in FMCON campus here on June 1.

The programme, which began with an invocation, was inaugurated by the MCC mayor Gulzar Banu by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.

"This esteemed institution has educated thousands of students and they have been rendering a great service to the society," said the mayor in her address. "Not only earn your degree, but also give your best service to patients," she urged the students.

College administrator Fr Denis D'Sa introduced chief guest Gulzar Banu to the gathering.

"Do a little more. Do what you can do, besides what you have to do and what you are asked to do," said director Fr Patrick Rodrigues in his presidential remarks, calling it the secret of success. He further said that they should have desire to serve, being not only good at lecturing but also being an efficient nurse at the patients' bedside. He exhorted the students to imbibe the spirit of service and trust, taking inspiration from the founder, Father Muller himself.

Sr Winnifred D'Souza welcomed the gathering. PG coordinator Irene Alvares delivered a vote of thanks.

MCC corporator Naveen D'Souza, Fr Richard Coelho and Fr Rudolph D'Sa were also present on the occasion.
