Most Rev. Dr Gerald Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, conducted his Pastoral Visit to Our Lady of Miracles Cathedral, Kallianpur, from the 18th to the 20th of May, 2024. V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, Rector and Parish Priest of Our Lady of Miracles Cathedral, Kallianpur; Rev. Fr Pradeep Cardoza, Asst. Parish Priest, along with the parishioners, extended a warm welcome to the Bishop.
After the preliminary rites, the Bishop visited the cemetery and conducted a prayer service. The Bishop also conducted Catechism on the Sacrament of Confirmation for the 44 candidates of the parish who were to receive the Sacrament. Then, he interacted with the Parish finance committee members. The Bishop paid a visit to Rose Convent Kallianpur for Rosary and Prayer.
On the 19th of May, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated with great joy, and 44 children were conferred with the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily, the Bishop emphasized the Holy Spirit.
After the Mass, the Bishop had a series of meetings with several groups, including the SFO, SVP, Sthree Sanghatan, Catholic Sabha, Missionary Children’s Association, Altar Boys, ICYM, and YCS. In the afternoon, the Bishop attended the Small Christian Community meeting in one of the wards. He also had a meeting with the members of the Parish Pastoral Council and Pastoral Commissions’ animators.
On the morning of the 20th, the Bishop celebrated the Holy Eucharist at Ozanam Old Age Home, Kallianpur. After the Mass, the Bishop visited the sick of the parish. The Bishop had a meeting with the staff of Milagres Degree & PU College and the clergy. The Pastoral Visit concluded on Monday, the 20th, with a Prayer Service.
