Udupi: Janajagrithi Convention organised by Shree Kshetra Gramabhivrihi Yojane, Udupi Taluk  jointly with Akhila Karnataka Janajagrithi Vedike was inaugurated at the Shree Narayana Guru Kalyana Mantapa Bannanje here on 2 October 2013.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi. Krishna Nayak and Ramdas participants in the de-addiction camp shared their views.

Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo speaking on the occasion said that development is developing men and not things. Developing an individual is like devolving the society and Nation.

Development is not restricted to government or elected bodies. Every citizen is bound to share his ideas and work towards the development of the Nation. There are three mantras for development, they are association, education and self dependence.

We live in a secular nation where association of persons remains the prime aspect. We must get together with thoughts and ideas and work towards associating people. Education is the key to development where knowledge is the base for researching developmental aspects. The society is filled with evil addictions killing the masses. People following the three mantras of development must put an end to these addictions affecting the young people, he added.
