The Blessing of the renovated Church of St Antony’s Church at Kandlur was held on 13th February 2024.

Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves led the prayer service and blessed the grotto which is in front of the church. After the blessing of the grotto, the grand ceremony of the inauguration and blessing of the church was done by the Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese in the presence of Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese; V. Rev. Dr Roshan D’Souza, Chancellor of Udupi Diocese; Rev. Fr Canute Barboza, and a number of priests from Udupi and Mangalore Dioceses, Religious men, women, parishioners, and guests.

The inauguration was followed by Solemn Mass, which was concelebrated by several priests. After the Mass, a felicitation program was held. The program began with a welcome dance by the children from the Parish. Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi; V. Rev. Fr Stany Tauro, Dean of Kundapur Deanery; Rev. Fr Canute Barboza, Parish Priest of Kandlur Parish; Mrs Navsin Hasrath, Kavrady Grama Panchayat President; Moulana Eliyaz Nadvi, Imam & Kathith Jamiya Masid Kandlur; Mr Vinod D’Souza, President Kandlur Parish Pastoral Council; Mrs Lavina D’Sa, Secretary Kandlur Parish Pastoral Council were present on the dais.

Rev. Fr Canute Barboza gave the inaugural address. Donors, Contractors, Former Parish Priests, Present Parish Priest, and Building workers were felicitated on this occasion by the dignitaries.

V. Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Mrs. Navsin Hasrath, Moulana Eliyaz Nadvi addressed the gathering and congratulated the Kandlur parishioners.

In his presidential speech, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo said that in Indian culture, places of worship have a distinct place. The Bishop complimented the parish priest and people of the parish for their efforts in erecting a beautiful church. He said that the people of Kandlur have poured their love, sacrifice, and labour into the construction. It was their dream which has become a reality.

On behalf of the Diocese of Udupi, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo felicitated Rev. Fr. Canute Barboza as a token of appreciation for his great work.

Rev. Fr. Canute Barboza welcomed the gathering, and Mr. Vinod D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. A fellowship meal was served to all those who attended the function.
