Most Rev. Dr Gerald Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, conducted his Pastoral Visit to Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi from 26th to 28th January 2024.

V. Rev. Fr. Charles Menezes, Parish Priest of Udupi Church; Rev. Fr. Melwyl Roy Lobo, Assistant Priest of Udupi Church, and the parishioners extended a warm welcome to the Bishop. After the preliminary rites, the Bishop visited the cemetery and conducted a prayer service. Then he interacted with the Parish Finance Committee members.

On the 27th morning, the Bishop celebrated the Holy Eucharist at St. Cecily’s Convent, Udupi. He also visited St. Maris Educational Institutions, where he interacted with the children and addressed the teachers and staff members of the school. In the afternoon, the Bishop had a meeting with the members of BEC animators. After that, the Bishop conducted a catechism on the Sacrament of Confirmation for the 12 candidates of the parish who were to receive the Sacrament.

The Holy Eucharist was celebrated with great joy, and 12 children were conferred with the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily, the Bishop spoke about the upcoming Jubilee 2025 and how we can prepare ourselves for the meaningful celebration of it. After the Mass, the Bishop had a meeting with the members of the Parish Pastoral Council and Pastoral Commissions' animators.

On the 28th morning, the Bishop celebrated the Holy Eucharist at Mother of Sorrows Church. After the Mass, the Bishop had a series of meetings with several groups, including the Missionary Children’s Association, Altar Boys, ICYM, YCS, Catholic Sabha, SFO, Legion of Mary, SVP, and Sthree Sanghatan. He also attended the Small Christian Community meeting in one of the wards. Later, he visited the sick. The Pastoral Visit concluded on Sunday, the 28th, with a Prayer Service.
