The Renovated 800 seater capacity Xavier Sabha Bhavan was Inaugurated and Blessed on Saturday, December 23, 2023 in Udyavar. The Parish Priest of St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavara inaugurated the renovated air conditioning hall and Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo blessed the same.
The Parish Priest Fr Stany B Lobo expressed his joy over the completion of the much awaited hall. He thanked the Parish Finance Council members for their support and guidance.
Kaup MLA Suresh Shetty Gurme, congratulated the Parish Priest and the Parishioners. He thanked the members for electing him as their MLA and sought the blessing of the Bishop and everyone.
Former Karnataka minister Vinaya Kumar Sorake, said that this hall is a Christmas gift to the parishioners. He commended the efforts of the Parish Priest and the Parishioners.
Jerry Vincent Dias, MD of Mandavi Builders Udupi, highlighted the utility of the auditorium for the community and praised the efforts that made Fr Stany B Lobo's dream come true.
In the background of the tragic accident of the ICYM members of the Parish and the death of the ICYM president, the Bishop Dr Gerald Issac Lobo said, "We mourn the demise of ICYM president of Udyavar parish. Even on this joyful day, we are filled with sorrows due to the incident. I pray for the recovery of other injured members.
Later in his address he thanked God for his grace to complete the project. He congratulated the parishioners of Udyavar for their sacrifices, dedication and team work in the completion of the project. There was a necessity of a fully equipped auditorium for conducting various events of the parishioners. Fr Stany B Lobo took up the responsibility to make this happen. He congratulated the Parish Priest, Parish Pastoral Council, Finance Council and all the parishioners for realizing the dream of having a fully equipped auditorium".
The programme commenced with a prayer song by the Church Choir team, followed by a silent prayer for Joysten Castelino, who lost his life in the car accident. Later the donors, engineer, builder etc were felicitated.
Lawrence D'Sa, vice president, welcomed the gathering, while John M D'Souza, secretary of the parish pastoral council, proposed the vote of thanks. The other dignitaries present at the event were Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalvis, vicar general diocese of Udupi, Fr Leo Praveen D'Souza, assistant parish priest, Haji Abdul Jalil Saheb, trustee, Halima Sabju Auditorium Udyavara, Malathi Sandeep, president, Udyavar gram panchayat, Norbert Crasto, donor and well-wisher, Pitrodi Udyavara, Gerald Pereira, coordinator, Parish Pastoral Commission, Melvin Norohna and convener of the building Committee.
