A new house of the Carmelites in the Diocese of Udupi was blessed on 6th of November during the concelebrated Eucharist presided over by Most Rev. Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo, the Bishop of Udupi. Rev. Fr. Silvestre D’Souza the Provincial Superior of the Carmelites of Karnataka Goa Province cut the ribbon and inaugurated the new house.

The farm house was blessed by the Bishop. Later he celebrated the Mass along with the Provincial Councilors and other officials of the Province during which he blessed private chapel and the tabernacle and handed over the keys to Fr. Alwyn Sequeira the priest in charge of this farm house. While thanking the Bishop Fr. Silvestre said, ‘Every Carmelite house in a Diocese is a power house of prayer. Prayer and Contemplation being the charism of the Carmelites they dedicate themselves to pray for the entire church and especially for the local diocese’. He thanked the Bishop for his guidance and constant support.  

The engineer Allan D Souza, contractor Maxim Correa and electric contractor   Prakash Andrade were felicitated. Bishop thanked the Carmelites for their service in the diocese and congratulated them for the successful competition of the building despite initial hiccups. V. Rev. Fr. Baptist Menezes the parish priest of Kalmady was present at the occasion as this farm house falls under the jurisdiction of Kalmady parish. Fr. Prakash D’Cunha the Councilor incharge of temporalities oversaw the entire project and worked tirelessly to complete the project in time.

Fr. Archibald Gonsalves and William Miranda the pioneers to purchase this land and do the initial planning were remembered and thanked for their foresight.  For the present Fr. Alwyn Sequeira and Fr. John Sequeira will be residing in this house.
