Christians observed Maundy Thursday on April 14, to commemorate the institution of the Holy Eucharist by Jesus Christ with church services in the evening at Kallianpur.
Bishop of Udupi Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, celebrated the Lord’s Supper at the Milagres Cathedral in Kallianpur along with V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca Rector of the cathedral, Rev. Fr Joy Andrade Assistant Priest and a guest priest from Pilar Fathers.
In his homily the Bishop emphasized on the significance of Maundy Thursday. The bishop washed the feet of laypersons reminding the washing of the feet of 12 Apostles by Jesus Christ.
At the end of the mass, the Holy Eucharist was taken ceremoniously taken to the florally decorated Altar of Repose. The reverential transfer of the Holy Eucharist to the Altar of Repose was followed by adoration.
