The faithful of Sacred Heart Church, Yermal, Relatives and Friends of Rev. Fr Joswey Fernandes gathered together for a Thanksgiving Eucharist on the occasion of his Golden Birthday on 3rd September 2023.
In the presence of Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese and Most Rev. Dr Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary Diocese Rev. Fr Joswey offered the thanksgiving Mass along with Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese; V. Rev. Dr Roshan D’Souza, Chancellor and Judicial Vicar of Udupi Diocese; V. Rev. Fr Charles Menezes, Dean of Udupi Deanery; V. Rev. Fr Leslie D’Souza, Dean of Shirva Deanery and other priests. V. Rev. Fr Leslie D’Souza preached a meaningful homily on priesthood.
Rev. Fr Joswey thanked God for the precious gift of 75 years of life. He thanked God for the blessings he received from his loving family, friends and relatives.
Later, a felicitation program was organized by the parishioners of Yermal to make the Jubilee of their Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Joswey Fernandes, a memorable one. The programme began with Prayer Song by the children of the parish. Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Most Rev. Dr Henry D’Souza, Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, Rev. Fr J. B. Saldanha, Parish Priest of Bejai, Rev. Fr Charles Menezes, Dean, Udupi Deanery, Fr Archie Fernandes, Brother of Rev. Fr Joswey Fernandes, Mr James D’Souza, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council; Mrs Jyothi Pais, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs Veronica Barboza commissions Coordinator of Yermal Parish were present on the dais along with the birthday celebrant Fr Joswey.
Rev. Fr Joswey Fernandes cut the golden jubilee cake. Rev. Fr J. B. Saldanha raised the toast and wished health and happiness to Rev. Fr Joswey. Most Rev. Dr Henry D’Souza and Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese congratulated and felicitated Rev. Fr Joswey Fernandes. Rev. Fr Joswey was also felicitated by the Parishioners and family members.
Rev. Fr Joswey expressed his sentiments of gratitude to all those who helped to make the Golden Jubilee Celebrations a memorable one. It was a day filled with feelings of gratitude, happiness and joy. The presence and participation of the parishioners, relatives and friends was commendable.
Mr James D’Souza welcomed the gathering and Mrs Jyothi Pais proposed the vote of thanks. Rev. Fr Thomas Roshan D’Souza, Parish Priest of Gangolli compered the programme.
