Outdoor Way of the Cross held with great devotion at St.Antony church,Kuntalnagar

The Diocesan level outdoor Way of the Cross was held at St. Antony’s Church,Kuntalnagar on Friday, 11 April 2014 .The ceremony began at 3pm,with the preparation for confessions which was conducted by the Assistant parish priest of Udupi,Fr.Wilson.The confessions began at 3:30 pm.

 

 

 


The Eucharistic celebrations took place at 4:30 pm in the presence of Bishop of Udupi Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo as the main celebrant, Vicar General Rev. Dr. Baptist Menezes, Dean of UdupiVarado Rev. Fr. Fred Mascarenhas, Parish Priest of Kuntalnagar Church and PRO of the Udupi Diocese Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, Rev. Fr. Jerome Monteiro former Parish Priest of Kuntalnagar,and  other priests and religious from the neighbouring parishes. The Way of the Cross was conducted by Rev. Fr. Leo Lasrado, Professor at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore.

The sermon was delivered by Rev. Fr. Leo Lasrado in which he said that we have to bear a lot of sufferings as followers of Christ.Continuing further he said that we have to bear our crosses in our day to day life.By his death on the cross,Jesus has brought us salvation.

 

 

 

 

 


The mass was followed by the outdoor Way of the Cross which commenced at 5:30pm.Representatives from different parishes of UdupiVarado carried the wooden cross and candles.The narration of each station was conducted with great devotion by Fr.Lasrado followed by meditation and hymns.

The Way of the Cross came to an end at around 6:45pm, which was followed by words of Thanksgiving by the parish priest Fr.Denis D’sa and message from the Bishop.

 

 

 

 

 


Fr.D’sa thanked the Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo for suggesting to conduct the Way of the Cross at the Diocese level.He also thanked Fr.Leo Lasrado for  conducting the Way of the Cross  with devotion and spirituality.Further he thanked the Vicar General, Dean of UdupiVarado and parish priests of different parishes for encouraging their parishioners to participate in the Way of the Cross.He also appreciated the efforts put in by Fr.EdwinD’souza and the parishioners of Kuntalnagar for organzing the ceremony successfully.Large number of people from different parishes of the diocese of Udupi participated with great devotion.
