The newly constructed Holy Cross Church at Pamboor was blessed by the Bishop of Udupi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald I. Lobo on Dec 18, 2017.

Maurice Noronha the aldest parishioner inaugurated the newly built Church by cutting the ribbon. accompanied by Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald I. Lobo, V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca Dean of Udupi Deanery and Chancellor of Udupi Diocese, V. Rev. Fr Stany Tauro Dean of Shirva Deanery, Rev. Fr Paul Rego Parish Priest of Pamboor and a number of priests from Udupi and Mangalore Dioceses, religious mens, women and the parishioners from the neighbouring parishes.

This was followed by the solemn Mass which was concelebrated by several priests along with the bishop Gerald Lobo highlighted the meaning of the place of worship (temple or church) and traced the origin and development of places of worship since ancient times and pointed out that it was King David who thought of building a grand temple for God. However, he was not destined to complete the temple and it was his son Solomon who built a grand temple in honour of  Yaveh (God).

After the Mass, a public felicitation programme was held. Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi; Mr. Vinay Kumar Sorake MLA Kaup; Rev. Fr Paul Rego, Parish Priest of Pamboor; Rev. Fr Reginald Pinto, Director of Sampada; Rev. Fr Harold Pereira, Director of SCC; Mr. Prakash Noronha, Vice President of Parish Council of Pamboor Church and Mrs. Asuntha D’Souza, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council of Pamboor were present on the dias.   

In his message, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo congratulated Fr. Paul Rego and Pamboor parishioners for their great achievement in building a new church with great sacrifice and dedication. He said that for Christians church is like the door to heaven as all rituals right from the birth till death are performed in church.On behalf of the Diocese of Udupi, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo felicitated Fr. Paul Rego as a token of appreciation for his great work in Pamboor.

Rev. Fr Paul Rego welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Asuntha D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Hilda Mathias compered the programme. Fellowship meal was served to all those who attended the inaugural function.
