It was a joyful and memorable event for the parishioners of Sacred Heart Church, Yermal near Uchila when their shepherd the Bishop of Udupi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo visited them from 11th& 12th of January, 2020. Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues, the Parish Priest and the parishioners extended a warm welcome to him on 11th evening. The preliminary rites in the Church were followed by visit to the cemetery.
The Bishop had a session on Catechism for the Confirmation children. He spent time with the Sick in the parish.
On 12th January, the Confirmation Mass was celebrated with great joy. A total of 7 students were administered the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily during the Mass, the Bishop preached on how we can become saints in our life.
After the Mass, the Bishop had meetings with several groups, viz. Catholic Sabha; Altar Boys; YCS; ICYM; Sthree Sanghatan, etc. This was followed by his meetings with 18 Commission animators and Coordinator.
On the occasion of Pastoral visit one house was blessed by Bishop. The house was built by St Vincent Paul Society of Yermal Unit with the help of S.V.P. Central Committee, Catholic Sabha and Donors. He attended the S.C.C. meeting in a ward. He concluded by summarizing the entire pastoral visit and left for Udupi at around 06:00 p.m.
