Christmas Eve was celebrated with great pomp and joy at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur on 24th December 2019.
Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese celebrated holy Eucharist along with V. Rev. Fr Lawrence C. D’Souza, Rector of the Cathedral; Rev. Fr Canute Noronha, Asst. Parish Priest of Milagres Cathedral; Rev. Fr Lancy Fernandes, Principal of Milagres English Medium School and Rev. Fr John Bennet, Superior of Fr Agnel Minor Seminary.
In his homily, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo said that the world awaited the arrival of Jesus Chirst, who is the light of the world. He said that during the Christmas time all over the world cribs are prepared. Christmas crib represents how Jesus was born and it exhibits figures that represent Infant Jesus, his Mother, Mary and Joseph. There are various other characters that are part of the Christmas crib which show complete picture of God who became man.
In his Christmas message, Bishop said that the celebration of Christmas brings us together, unity and peace. We should try to build happy families. The forthcoming year 2020, the diocese under St Vincent de Paul Society is planning to give provide shelter (home) for the poor, at least one per parish. We must try our best to solve the shelter problems faced by the needy. He offered Christmas wishes to all concerned at the end of the mass.
Under the leadership of ICYM, a beautiful cake was auctioned for five digit amount. Prizes were distributed to best crib competition and best star making competition. Entertainment programme was conducted by the ICYM with dance and housie games. Santa arrived to entertainment the children and others. Large numbers of faithful participated in the Christmas Eve celebration.
