The Platinum birthday of Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues and Elders Day were celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Yermal on Friday 11th August 2019.
The Solemn Eucharist was celebrated with main celebrant Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop of Udupi along with V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, Dean of Udupi Deanery; Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues, Parish Priest of Yermal; a number of priests from Udupi and Mangalore Dioceses, Religious men, women and the parishioners and guests.
After the mass a stage program was held at which Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi; V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, Dean of Udupi Deanery; Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues, Parish Priest of Yermal Parish; V. Rev. Fr Lawrence C. D’Souza, Rector of Milagres Cathedral and Dean of Kallianpur Deanery; Rev. Fr Leslie D’Souza, Parish Priest of Mount Rosary Church; Mr Alban Rodrigues, brother of Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues; Mrs Helen D’Souza, Elderly person of Yermal Church; Mr Vinay Quadros, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Yermal; Mrs. Sharlet Furtado, Vice President of Pastoral Council, Yermal Church; Mrs Veronica Barboza, Coordinator of 18 commissions, Yermal Church were present on the dais.
The program began with a prayer song by Yermal Parish choir group. Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues along with Mrs Helen D’Souza cut the cake of platinum birthday. V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca raised the toast and wished well to Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues. Yermal parishioners and Family members felicitated to Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues on this occasion.
Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues expressed his feelings and thanked all the parishioners to celebratet this birthday and elderly people’s day. At the end of his speech he returned the amount of his birthday gift Rs 75 thousand given by Yermal parishioners. Rev. Fr Leslie D’Souza announced that the money will be deposited as fund in the name of Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues.
Most Rev. Dr Gerald Lobo distributed gift for all elderly people and addressed the gathering and wished happy birthday to Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues. On behalf of Udupi diocese the bishop felicitated Rev. Fr Lawrence Rodrigues.
Mr Vinay Quadros welcomed the gathering and Mrs Veronica Barboza proposed vote of thanks. Rev. Fr Leslie D’Souza compeered the programme. Fellowship meal was served to all those who attended the program.
