The Bishop of Udupi, Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Lobo was on Pastoral Visit to Our Lady of Health Church Shirva from 29th to 31st October, 2022. V. Rev. Fr Leslie D’Souza, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Rolwin Aranha, Principal of Don Bosco CBSE School, Rev. Fr Nelson Peris, Asst. Parish Priest, Rev. Fr George Jadon Pinto and the parishioners extended a warm welcome to him.
After the preliminary rites, the Bishop visited the cemetery, blessed the newly erected Cross and conducted the prayer service. Later He took Catechism for the Confirmation children. Then He interacted with the Parish finance committee members. Bishop paid courtesy visit to Don Bosco youth centre at Shirva for prayer and rosary.
On 30th September, the Confirmation Mass was celebrated with great joy. 73 children received the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily, the bishop emphasised on the importance of family life.
After the Mass, the Bishop had meetings with several groups, viz. Altar Boys; ICYM; YCS; Catholic Sabha; SFO; Legion of Mary, SVP and Sthree Sanghatan members. He visited the sick and conducted prayers. After that he attended the Small Christian Community meeting in one of the wards.
On 26th morning the Bishop celebrated the holy Eucharist at Auxilium Nivas. He paid visit to Don Bosco CBSE School, Don Bosco Primary, St Mary’s College, High School and PUC and interacted with Students. The Pastoral Visit concluded on Monday 31st with a Prayer Service.
