It was a joyful and memorable event for the parishioners of St Antony Church, Koteshwar when their shepherd the Bishop of Udupi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Lobo visited them from 11th to 12th May, 2019. Rev. Fr Cyril A. Menezes, the Parish Priest; Rev. Fr Stephen Lobo and the parishioners extended a warm welcome to him on 11th evening. The preliminary rites in the Church were followed by a visit to the cemetery.
The Bishop had a session on Catechism for the Confirmation children.This was followed by his meeting with the Sunday Catechism Teachers, SVP, and Franciscan third order.
On 12th May, Most Rev. Dr Gerald Lobo celebrated the Holy Eucharist along with Rev. Cyril A. Menezes. In his homily, the Bishop preached on how we can become saints in our life.
After the Mass, the Bishop had meetings with several groups, viz. Altar Boys; Girls Sodality; Missionary Children’s Association; Sthree Sangatan; Catholic Sabha; Pastoral Council; 18 Commissions’ Coordinator and Animators. He attended the S.C.C. meeting in a ward. He spent time with the sick in the parish. He paid a visit to St Antony Home for the Aged and interacted with the elderly people and Nuns serving there.The Pastoral visit concluded on Sunday 12th with a Prayer Service, after which the Bishop returned.
