It was a joyful and memorable event for the parishioners of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Nakre when their shepherd the Bishop of Udupi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Lobo visited them from 15th to 17th of September, 2018. Rev. Fr Vincent Crasta, the Parish Priest and the parishioners extended a warm welcome to him on 15th evening.
The preliminary rite in the Church was followed by visit to the cemetery. The Bishop had a session on Catechism for the Confirmation children.
On 16th September, the Confirmation Mass was celebrated with great joy. A total of 26 students were administered the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily during the Mass, the Bishop preached on the importance of family life.
After the Mass, the Bishop had meetings with several groups, viz. Missionary Children’s Association; Marian Sodality;Altar Boys; YCS; ICYM; Catholic Sabha and he attended the S.C.C. meeting in a ward. He also visited the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent for Adoration, Prayer and Rosary and thereafter interacted with Sisters.
On 17th the Bishop celebrated Mass in the Church, He spent time with the Sick in the parish. After the mass, he met the members of SVP; Sthree Sanghatan and 18 Commission animators and coordinator. He concluded by summarizing the entire pastoral visit and left for Udupi at around 6:00 p.m.
