The renovated Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour at Parapady was blessed by the Bishop of Udupi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald I. Lobo on 09th May, 2018.
The Bishop was welcomed by Rev. Fr Vincent Lobo, V. Rev. Joswey Fernandes, Mr Ronald D’Sa, Mrs Precilla Lobo, Mrs Jacintha D’Sa and the parishioners at the entrance. Later V. Rev. Joswey Fernandes blessed and inaugurated the Grotto and Bishop Gerald Lobo Blessed the Belfry.
The grand ceremony of the inauguration and blessing of the church commenced as the Bishop along with V. Rev. Fr Joswey Fernandes, Rev. Fr Vincent Lobo and a number of priests from Udupi and Mangalore Dioceses, Religious men, women and the parishioners and guests.
The inauguration was followed by the Solemn Mass which was concelebrated by several priests. Bishop Gerald Lobo preached the homily on the meaning of jubilee.
After the Mass, a public felicitation program was held. Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi; V. Rev. Fr Joswey Fernandes, Dean of Karkal Deanery; Rev. Fr Denis Lobo, Pilar Fathers Goa; Rev. Fr Vincent Lobo, Parish Priest of Parapady Parish; Mr Ronald D’Sa, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council; Mrs Precilla Lobo, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council; Mrs Jacintha D’Sa, Coordinator, 18 commissions of Parapady and others were present on the dais.
The programme began with the prayer song. Mrs Precilla Lobo read the brief report of the parish. Rev. Fr Denis Lobo and Rev.Fr Stany D’Silva inaugurated the church magazine “Nirmal”. Rev. Fr Joswey Fernandes Spoke on this occasion.
In his presidential speech, Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo said that in Indian culture, places of worship have a distinct place. The Bishop complimented the parish priest and people of the parish for their efforts in erecting such a beautiful church building within a short period. He said that the people of Parapady have poured their love, sacrifice and labour into the construction of the new Church building. It was their dream which has become a reality.
On behalf of the Diocese of Udupi, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo felicitated Rev. Fr Vincent Lobo as a token of appreciation for their great work at Parapady. Former parish priests, contractors, Engineer, Sponsors, donors were felicitated on the occasion.
Mr Ronald D’Sa welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr Vincent Lobo proposed the vote of thanks. Fellowship meal was served to all those who attended the inaugural function.
