Udupi : Bharathiya Catholic Yuva Sanchalan (ICYM), Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Kolalgiri Unit organized Kallianpur Deanery and Udupi Deanery level “Yeya Gadyanth Kelovyam” Kesaradonji Dina at Shri Bhaskar Adiga’s pady fields at Uppoor, Kallianpur near here on Thursday, 2nd October, 2014.
After the invocation prayer hymn by Kolalgiri Unit Rev Fr. Wilfred Frank held prayer during the inaugural function. Ashwin D’Souza President of Kolalgiri unit welcomed the gatherings. Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa Public Relation Officer of Udupi Diocese as well as Parish Priest of Kuntalnagar Church was inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. Rev Fr. Wilfred Frank presided the inaugural occasion. Geetanjali Suverna Zilla Panchayat Vice President, Rev Fr. Edwin D’Souza Director of Youth Commission,Rev Fr. Fredrick D’Souza, Fr. David Crasta of Ammunje SMS church, Gayathri Sheriger Vice President of Uppoor Panchayat and other guests were present on the dais.
During in his inaugural address Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa said that to conduct like these events need courage. Kolalgiri unit have the courage to organize like these events. He called from next year onwards, diocese all units should avail like these programs. Feast and events like this could be platform for the unity and hence can show the talents of our youths.
During the occasion five farmers were felicitated. The mega event was inaugurated by letting out pigeon to the air. There was march fast held on the paddy field by the participants and later took the oath.
The inaugural function was compered by one of the well known master of ceremonies Sir Prashanth of Kallianpur. Melwyn Kolalgiri and Derick Mascarenhas who were masters of all events. Wilma Almeida proposed vote of thanks.
There were Volley Ball for Gents and Throw Ball for Ladies, tug of war, Breaking of Pot, Carry one running race for Gents and Ladies.
Valedictory function which was presided by Monsignor Rev Dr. Baptist Menezes Vicar General of Udupi Diocese. Pramod Madwaraj MLA was the chief guest. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Dean of Kallianpur Deanery, Rev Fr. Edwin D’souza, Rev Fr. Reginald Pinto of SAMPADA, Rev Fr. Wilfred Frank, Rev Fr. Fredrick D’Souza Parish Priest of Thottam Church, Leslie Aroza Vice President of Social Commission, Udupi Diocese, Ashwin D’Souza President of the unit and others were present on the dais.
Fr. Wilfred Frank welcomed the gatherings, During in his address Pramod Madwaraj said that paddy field mud is the beauty which will be the medicine. It’s great that Kolalgiri unit organized with the intention of unity of the youths. Fr. Baptist Menezes gave gratitude to organizers for the beautiful event. He called all deaneries of the diocese should participate in the particular event. Kolalgiri youths have made history by organizing this mega event.
Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo also addressed during the occasion. National and International awards winner Dr. Ikalabava Deviprasad Shetty honored and felicitated during the occasion by the guests on the dais.He said that if village developed with growth then nation will be developed. Meanwhile, Ashwin D’Souza President of Kolalgiri unit also felicitated by the guests on the dais. Reynold Rodrigues of Belle unit gave his opinion on the event.
Royston D’Souza read out the winners of the various events. Gents of Moodubelle unit are winners of Volley Ball while Thottam Gents are runners up. Mount Rosary ladies are winners of Throw Ball while Moodubelle are the runners up. Moodubelle ladies are winners of tug of war event while Mount Rosary unit are the runners up. Udyavara unit are the winners in tug of war event while Moodubelle unit are the runners. Breaking pot event goes to both gentleman & lady of Kuntalnagar unit. Running race with person first place won by Sayani Fernandes of Thottam while second Preethi of Brahmaver. Mount Rosary won first place in runnering race with person while Thottam won second place.
Overall Moodubelle are the Champions with Trophy Shield and cash amount while Mount Rosary are the runners in Championship with runners up Trophy Shield and cash amount.
