Catholic Educational Society of Udupi Diocese (CESU) celebrated Teachers’ Day at St Xavier’s English medium High School auditorium, Udyavara on 4th September 2019.

The programme started with prayer dance by St Xavier’s English Medium High School teachers. Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese; V. Rev. Fr Stany B. Lobo, Chancellor Udupi Diocese and Parish Priest of Udyavar Parish; Mr Bhoje Gowda, Member of the Legislative Council from North-west Teachers’ Constituency; Mrs Manjula, district Block Education Officer; Mr Subramanya Joshi, Former Deputy Director of PUC Education; V. Rev. Fr Lawrence C. D’Souza, Former Secretary of CESU and Rector of Milagres Cathedral; Rev. Fr Vincent Crasta, Secretary of CESU were present on the dias.

The teaching and non-teaching staff of the educational institutions under CESU who had retired last year were honoured by the Bishop. All those institutions which secured 100 percent results and meritorious students were felicitated on this occasion. Condolences was offered to those teachers from CESU governed institutions who had passed away last year.

Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo along with dignitaries offered the flowers to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnans picture.Mr BojeGowda, Mr Subramanya Joshi, Mrs Manjula and Rev. Fr Larence C. D’Souza were spoke on this occasion.

Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo addressed the gathering and said that along with giving education to the students, the teachers also have a great responsibility of providing them with value-based education. Everyone needs education to grow as good citizens. The Bishop further said that in the progress of the nation, teachers play an important role. By recognizing the qualities and talents of students and by nurturing them, teachers can enrich their profession.

Rev. Fr Vincent Crasta, Secretary of CESU welcomed the guests, Mr Naveen Correa, lecturer from St Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle delivered the vote of thanks and Sr Priscilla and Mr Anil Kumar compered the program.
