The District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Public Education Department, Joint Director’s Office Udupi district, Block Education Department office, Brahmavara and Milagres English Medium Schools, Kallianpur jointly organized State level Table Tennis tournament at Milages Tri Centenary hall, Kallianpur on 6th October 2018.

Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi; Mr. K. Raghupathy Bhat, MLA of Udupi Constitution; V. Rev. Fr Lawrence D’Souza, Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions and Rector of Milagres Cathedral; Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes SJ, Principal of Milagres English School; Mr Janardhana Thonse, Member of Zilla Panchayat Udupi; Mrs. Nalini Pradeep, President of Taluk Panchayat Udupi and others were present on the occasion.

The Inaugural Program started with Prayer song from Milagres English Medium School. Madhukar  S., District Physical Education director gave the keynote address and spoke of the procedure to qualify to national level tournament.

K. Raghupathy Bhat inaugurated the Tournament by lighting the lamp with the dignitaries. K. Raghupathy Bhat, Most Rev. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Mrs. Sheela K., Mrs Nalini Pradeep, Pushpa Kotian, V. Rev. Fr Lawrece D’Souza and Mr Janardhana Thonse addressed the gathering on this occasion.

Special invitee and guest of honor Abhishek, Award winner of Common Wealth Games 2010 was felicitated on the occasion.

Rev. Fr Lancy Fernandes welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Anusha proposed vote of thanks. Mr Sathish Shetty compered the program.

After the stage program, the state level table tennis tournament was inaugurated by Abishek by pressing the button of the water fountain.

Prior to the inauguration, a huge rally of the participants of the game from 34 districts was held from Santhekatte junction to the location of the tournament at Milagres Tri Centenary Hall which was flagged off by DDPI Sheshashayana Karinji. During the rally, along with students, tableau and various brass bands and drums displayed.

Around 600 persons including students, coaches and parents are participating in the state level Table Tennis tournament.
