Most Rev. Dr Gerald Lobo blessed the Holy Cross Students’ Home at Katapady on 13th April, 2018.

The grand ceremony of the Inauguration and blessing of the Holy Cross Students’ Home was done by the Bishop along with V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, Chancellor and Dean of the Udupi Deanery; V. Rev. Leo D’Souza, Provincial of Holy Cross, South India Provenceand a number of priests from Udupi and Mangalore Dioceses, Religious men, women and the parishioners and guests.

V. Rev. Leo D’Souza, Provincial of Holy Cross, South India Provinceinaugurated the new building by cutting the ribbon. Fr Valerian Mendonca chancellor of Udupi Diocese led the prayer service and blessed the new building.

The inauguration was followed by the Solemn Mass which was concelebrated by V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, V. Rev. Leo D’Souza, Rev. Fr Ronson D’Souza, Rev. Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, Rev. Fr Roshan Menezes and several priests.

Bishop Gerald Lobo in his homily highlighted the meaning of the place of worship and traced the origin and development of places of worship to ancient times and pointed out that it was King David who thought of building a grand temple for God. However, he was not destined to complete the temple and it was his son Solomon who built a grand temple in honour of Yahve (God).

A short stage program was held at Holy Cross Auditorium. The Programme started with prayer song. Most Rev. Dr Gerald Lobo, Bishop of Udupi; V. Rev. Fr Leo D’Souza, Provincial of Holy Cross, South India Provence; V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, Dean of Udupi Deanery; Rev. Fr Ronson D’Souza, Parish  Priest of Katapady; Rev. Fr Terrance Abranches, Superior of Holy Cross Students’ Home were present on the dais.

Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo and V. Rev. Fr Leo D’Souza addressed the gathering on this occasion. Rev. Fr Terrance Abranches welcomed the gathering.
