It was a joyful and memorable event for the parishioners of Christ The King Church, Karkala when their shepherd, The Bishop of Udupi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Lobo visited them from 13th to 15th of January, 2018. V. Rev. Fr Joswey Fernandes, Parish Priest; Rev. Fr Baptist Menezes; Deacon Ashwin Aranha; Br. Vijay D’Souza and the parishioners extended a warm welcome to him on 13th evening. The preliminary rite in the Church was followed by visit to the cemetery.

The Bishop had a Catechism session for the Confirmation children. This was followed by his meetings with the YCS; Finance Committee members and Parish Pastoral Council members.

On 14th January Confirmation Mass was celebrated with great joy. A total of 40 students were administered the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his homily during the Mass, the Bishop preached on the importance of family life.

After the Mass, the Bishop had meetings with several groups, viz. Sthri Sangatan; Catholic Sabha; I.C.Y.M ; Missionaries Children Association and Altar Boys. He attended the S.C.C. meeting in a ward.

On 02nd the Bishop celebrated Mass in the Mary Queen Convent, Karkal and interacted with the Sisters. He spent time with the Sick in the parish. He had meeting with 18 commissions Coordinator and Animators; Secular Franciscan Order and Coir Members. He concluded by summarizing the entire pastoral visit and left for Udupi around 2:00 p.m.
